The Recommend:
The Austerish graphic novel Asterios Polyp is my book of the year.
Back in my bookselling days, I’d have hand-sold the shit out of it.

I’d somehow never heard of this book before, but love graphic novels as a rule. My husband checked it out from the U of T library sans dust jacket, so we didn’t have a cover to give us any clues to go by either. I read it in an evening and completely loved it. Glad it’s getting so much buzz.

Hey Lisa
Thanks for the comment.
This book has been the single-most recommended book of this project so far. I have had to send a few different ‘sorry but Dan Wagstaff has already recommended that book’ emails to saddened writers who have each vowed acts of sinister retribution.
It’s a great book and I recommend that people go and buy a copy first before even thinking about who to give it to and then, ultimately, just keeping it for themselves.
Oh man. Not more acts of sinister retribution. Brutal. I’m already sleeping with a gun under my desk…
