Nikki Reimer Recommends 2 Books: Empire of Illusion & Prismatic Publics

Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle by Chris Hedges

Published: July 2009, Knopf Canada

ISBN: 978-0-307-39846-8

The Recommend:

Hedges elegantly smashes through the North American cultural illusions of Literacy, Love, Wisdom, Happiness and America in this important and necessary book.

Like eating the apple, swallowing the red pill and noticing the man behind the curtain isn’t wearing any pants all at once. (But fun!)

Take off your blinders and buy this book.

15 fascinating avant-garde Canadian women poets are profiled in interviews and excerpts from their work.
